The mystical, magical world of Reiki for animals.

Read their stories below.

Reiki has become much more widely accepted as a holistic treatment for humans, but are you aware that it is also an amazing modality for the animal kingdom? All species of beloved family pets can benefit greatly from energy healing.

But what is it? Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that uses life force energy to heal the whole body by balancing the subtle energies. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances in animals as well as people. Because energy is not bound by physical limitations, I can provide Reiki healing to any person or animal, no matter their physical location or distance.

How can healing be sent remotely? Have you ever printed something from your phone or computer without using cables, listened to music on wireless speakers, or sent instructions from your phone to your smart tv? Same concept, but this is WIFI for healing energies. I send healing by connecting to the client’s unique energy frequency, and this is true no matter who or what the client may be.

Benefits for pets may include:

  • Alleviating anxiety, stress, nervousness and producing a state of calm. This can be particularly beneficial with newly adopted animals and those adapting to changes in the home.
  • Increasing energy levels and overall well-being
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Helping to heal after surgery, injury or trauma
  • Relieving aches, pains, strains and allergies
  • Addressing issues with the coat, skin or feathers
  • Guiding pets through depression or bereavement

Still not sure this works? Read the following testimonials!

“Donna helped Bibi release a lot of stress and anxiety. She was the key to healing and success in happily integrating Bibi into our family.”

“Weeks into the pandemic, I began fostering a 9-year old rescue beagle that had been dropped off at a shelter in the middle of the night. This little girl was scared, disoriented, and tender, recovering from her spay and lumpectomy surgery. A few days after she came to us, I talked to Donna and shared some of my concerns that Bibi was not adjusting to her new home — eliminating indoors, not wanting to be touched, and generally apprehensive. She also was either afraid of our cat or wanted to eat him! Her ability to cohabitate with the resident cat was critical to her adoption. We knew nothing about Bibi’s background and could only imagine that she had a lot to be anxious about.

Listening with compassion, Donna suggested distance Reiki for Bibi. I would never have thought of Reiki for animals, but as a long-time client of Donna’s I knew what Reiki could do for me. An hour later Donna called to share session notes. She had felt Bibi’s insecurity and helped her to release a lot of stress and anxiety. Donna sent healing energy to her head, heart, and tummy incisions and assured Bibi that she was safe and loved. Donna felt Bibi relax and breathe easier, although Bibi did communicate to Donna that she was still going to keep her eye on the cat! The effects of this and a subsequent Reiki session a few days later were incredible. Bibi stopped prowling around and began growing closer to us. Her elimination schedule got easier, and she soon began to act more settled.

Three months later, I had just a few days to make a final decision about whether to adopt Bibi or release her to another family. It was not easy. While we had overcome quite a lot of hurdles, and she had become something akin to friends with the cat, Bibi was still a lot of work and a major life change for me. (There are dogs and then there are beagles!) Once again, I turned to Donna for guidance and clarity. She performed a remote joint-session with Bibi and me and was able to feel our connectedness. Bibi had been lying at my feet when the session began, but midway through she moved closer and put her head on my chest. She had never done that before. Donna made no recommendations — but she is an intuitive listener and assured me that I would know the answer. When I woke up the next morning I knew: this little beagle girl was a part of my heart and was meant to be a permanent part of our family. Donna was the key to healing and success in happily integrating Bibi into our family. I can whole-heartedly recommend Body and Soul Shepherd for the healing power of Reiki for pets and their humans.” — R.S.

“His [Bugsy’s] recovery was much quicker than the vet expected, and I believe it was due to the Reiki healing.”

“My dog Bugsy had an ulcer in his eye that was causing a lot of pain and discomfort. His eye was watering constantly and he wouldn’t stop rubbing it. After a distance reiki session with Donna he was much better. The watering stopped and he was no longer trying to rub his eye. He was calm and comfortable. He still required surgery on his eye to remove the ulcer. The day following surgery Donna did another distance Reiki session. His recovery was much quicker than the vet expected, and I believe it was due to the Reiki healing.

A couple of months later Donna and I performed a cleansing ritual at my home. I had put Bugsy in his kennel because he has terrible manners with guests. He was unusually quiet during the hour-long ritual. When we were done with the cleansing Donna asked if I would let Bugsy out to meet her in person. I was hesitant because I was certain he would be hyper and jump on her, but I agreed. Although he was visibly very excited, Donna asked him to sit and he did. She put her hand on top of his head and said “Hi Bugsy — we’ve met before. Do you recognize my energy?” It was clear he knew they had met during the remote Reiki sessions. He has never been calm or remained seated when meeting someone for the first time. I was blown away.” — L.P.

“I can’t help but believe the therapy was beneficial to him and instrumental in saving his life. I will forever be grateful to Donna for taking Tana into her healing hands.”

“A few years ago, our beloved cat Tana got clipped by a car. His injuries were relatively minor as such incidents go … no broken bones, but some bad bruising and lots of pain. After a few days, his situation became worse because the pain medication was interfering with his ability to move his bowels in a way that was truly life threatening. None of the treatments recommended by the vet were really working. Luckily, my dear friend Donna asked if she could do a reiki treatment or two on him to see if it would help. Oh, my goodness! The first session alone seemed to ease some of Tana’s pain & he appeared less distressed. My son, Cam, and I also benefited from just watching it and we all slept easier that night. The day after the second session, Tana finally succeeded in eliminating his bowels and there was great rejoicing! (Seriously, I have never been so happy to clean out his box.) It’s hard to say for sure, because Tana can’t speak for himself, but I can’t help but believe the therapy was beneficial to him and instrumental in saving his life. I will forever be grateful to Donna for taking Tana into her healing hands!” — J.A.

Reiki isn’t just for family pets. Animals of all sizes benefit from energy healing. The animals at Star Gazing Farm Animal Sanctuary enjoyed their pre-pandemic in-person Reiki sessions.
